We are all too familiar with the number of gun related tragedies that occur too often.  The tragedy that occurred at the Tree of Life Synagogue has brought into focus the real danger non-public schools and houses of worship must deal with.  In an effort to provide increased funding to all non-public schools in New Jersey legislation has been proposed:

A4597 in the assembly and S3080 in the senate – both of these bills seek to increase security funding from its current amount of $75.00 to $150.00 in this school year for all students in grades K-12.  The increase will provide schools with the necessary funds to make upgrades to their school buildings; technology or the perimeter of the school property to ensure the safety of everyone in the building.

We are asking each of our families to  please contact their state senate office asking that they support these bills.  The link to finding your senator or assembly member is:

https://www.njleg.state.nj.us/members/legsearch.asp - on the right in a yellow box you will see Municipality – there you will find each district by town name.  This is a big ask because it involves also contacting Senate President Steve Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin asking them to post these bills in their respective education committee so that there can be a vote.  Contacting Assemblyman Gary Schaer to thank him for introducing and sponsoring this legislation is encouraged. Please share this with family and friends to ehlp get the word out.

Your support is greatly appreciated as the safety of our children is a top priority.

Thank you,

Madeline Kinloch
